The LIÀ project, an initiative led by the Porto-Vecchio town council, applied for and won the «Intelligent and sustainable territories» call for projects under the Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir (PIA 4).
They released a 5 million euro budget to set up data governance for the town, which is Corsica’s leading tourist destination.

The aim of the project is to improve the daily lives of the inhabitants of this town, whose population quadruples during the summer months.

Work is also underway to manage the town’s economic activities, which stretch from the sea to the mountains, as well as port and yachting activities.

The aim is to think about a mode of governance using data to act on the management of tourist flows, mobility, parking, waste, quality of life, but also environmental risks such as drought, fire, water management and air quality.:

SMART PAESU, is a project initiated by the University of Corsica, the Collectivité de Corse, SITEC and the small village of Cozzano, in the center of the island.
This village alone represents the difficulties of landlocked, isolated territories with little or poor connectivity and which are dependent on external circumstances (risk of not having electricity in the event of bad weather, snow…).

Since 2017, the Smart Village project the commune has developed a biomass heating plant and hydroelectric micro power plants with a view to becoming a positive energy territory, producing more than it consumes.

The aim of the project is to optimize resource management by using new technologies to serve the population.

Since then, the village has become a testing ground for companies wishing to develop solutions in this field, such as STEPSOL, which now supplies the village with energy through its microgrid technology.
